...make this plan particularly well-suited for younger lawyers who want to maximize their life insurance coverage. NYSBA members, their spouse or partner, and dependent children can apply for $100,000–$2 million of coverage, depending on the coverage chosen.
This group insurance plan is renewable on an annual basis. Premiums increase each time you renew, since they're based on your age each term. This type of insurance offers short-term flexibility if you need temporary coverage or want freedom to adjust your coverage later.

With the QuickDecision process, you can apply for amounts up to $2,000,000 – usually with no medical exam or lab work required – just answer some health questions and securely accessed data, such as prescription history, medical claims, and driving records. QuickDecision is available for members through age 60.
To take advantage of QuickDecision, simply begin the application process as you normally would, then choose Quick Decision when the option is offered.
NOTE: QuickDecision is not offered in Puerto Rico.
Who is Eligible?
This valuable protection is reserved for NYSBA members and their spouse/partners residing in the U.S., under age 65, and dependent children between 15 days and 20 years old. This coverage is not available to the general public and is contingent upon maintaining membership with the NYSBA and payment of premiums.
Important Policy Features
- An Accelerated Death Benefit is included with your life insurance. This allows you to request a portion of your benefit amount while still alive if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness.*
- Your premium payments will be waived if you become totally disabled for a period of at least six months prior to turning age 60.
